Everything smooth and shining
Life built brick by brick
- I hadn't bargained for all this,
coming from the 
rough-and-tumble of
daily struggle
and hopelessness 
of circumstances.
But Life taught me
to love being alive
and not curse it.
Not small joys
and joys in small things, 
but I cherished that 
I was alive and fighting
and that was enough
to keep me going.
Here I am
savouring every moment
now as I was then.
