O little leaf
and tender too,
you take in the light
of the Bright Sun -
the one and only
in this galaxy
to give Light!
And you are the one
to silently turn
it into food
that nurtures
the tree and fruit
that contains
the life of future
generations!
And in time
you fulfil your duty
and turn yellow
and fade silently
to await fall
and even then
you merge into the
holy of the earth
to nourish the soil
yet again.
How lovely is your
transitory existence
exuding love
all the while
everywhere!
